Since inception last year, we have been working tirelessly at trying to decide what really matters to the paramedics of this province, what more can we bring to the citizens in terms of the care we can provide for them, and how do we get the necessary stakeholders to see our vision.

So far this year, we have created and rolled out the EMS week poster which has received positive feedback from our paramedics. We have also had the opportunity to sit and discuss our vision for EMS care in NB with our government, in accordance to the current PCP scope of practice used within ANB. As we know, the province currently does not employ ACP’s within ANB, although they are licensed within PANB. Some of the areas identified that could bring either significant symptom management or better patient outcomes included pain management, CPAP and 12 lead ECG’s. Our message was well received and a follow-up meeting with our government officials is being scheduled for the fall.

The last project we are working hard to complete at the moment is a surprise. It will show our province’s paramedics at their best. We are currently still seeking pictures from our members to include in our project. If you have a picture you wish to submit please send it to the PR committee. Stay tuned for the rollout of the project.

We look forward to continuing our forward momentum,

Derek Cassista

PR Committee Chair
