On Friday evening, October 18th, Lt. Gov. Brenda Murphy, a Patron of the Paramedic Association
of New Brunswick, unveiled a monument dedicated to and in honour of all New Brunswick
Paramedics to recognize their unwavering commitment and exemplary service to the public. The
monument is located on the grounds of Government House in Fredericton and is a result of the
cooperation of Government House, many Government Departments, all political parties, and
the Association. The memorial provides a location for Paramedics, their families, and the public
to gather to celebrate significant presentations, special events, or mourn Line-of-Duty Deaths.
Lt. Gov. Murphy addressing the gathering stated “I think this is a wonderful way to honour New
Brunswickers who have served their province by entering the paramedic profession. I hope that
the many visitors who pass through the grounds of Government House year-round will take a
moment to reflect on the important role played by paramedics in our society.”
Association President, Phil Comeau spoke thanking the Lt. Governor for her contributions in
making today possible, MLAs for their unwavering support, Paramedic Crystal Hart-Drake for the
initiation of the idea for a monument and working to make a reality, and Board members Eric
Grant, Derek Cassista, and Courtney Fillmore for bring it to a reality. He continued that will be a
place for Paramedics, their loved ones, and really anyone to come and celebrate and remember
the hard work and sacrifices Paramedics make every day for citizens and their loved ones here in
New Brunswick.
Following the unveiling, a reception was held at Government House.
