New Brunswick Paramedic Monument
IN HONOUR OF ALL NEW BRUNSWICK PARAMEDICS, TO RECOGNIZE THEIR UNWAVERING COMMITMENT AND EXEMPLARY SERVICE TO THE PUBLIC.
The New Brunswick Paramedic Monument is a minimalist structure with clean lines and a timeless design. The monument is rectangular with a slightly slanted cap, intentionally designed to match the visual lines of the Government House. The Association would like to recognize Smet Monuments for their assistance in the design, fabrication, and delivery of the monument.
The most striking architectural feature is the polished cutout in the center, which is shaped to resemble a paramedic’s star of life, a symbol that is universally recognized in paramedicine. The edges of the star cutout are milled sharp and precise, giving a contemporary look to represent the relevance of the profession. This cutout allows the natural environment, such as the trees and skyline to be seen through the monument, creating a visual connection between the monument and its surroundings.
The monument is made of marble with a smooth, sawn finish, suggesting durability and solemnity. It is mounted on a base that elevates the structure slightly from the ground, giving it prominence without overwhelming its natural setting. The overall design balances simplicity with symbolic significance, making it a respectful tribute to paramedics in New Brunswick. The appropriate location for the monument was selected after consulting local Indigenous leaders and archaeologists.
